February is Black History Month and while 2022’s edition hasn’t been the most memorable, I’d be remised if I didn’t do something to celebrate Black people. As you can probably guess, the theme of this week’s playlist is Black History Month, focusing on tracks that speak specifically to Black people. I’ve selected tracks from Lupe Fiasco, Saba, Nipsey Hussle, Kendrick Lamar, Rapsody, Big K.R.I.T., Noname, Joey Bada$$, and more to create a playlist that speaks to the current realities of Black America. For the first playlist of 2022, I thought it would be appropriate to catch everyone up on what I’ve been listening to during the hiatus. Of course, I had to compress the tracklist to the usual number of sixteen, so to make this playlist more concise I chose to focus on my favorite mellow tracks of 2022 so far.
